March 2023 : The Glimpse
March 2023 : The Glimpse
This month ensures at least a glimpse of the new chapter that lies before us. Before we reach the new road that we have been longing for there will be a potentially intense period of releasing, breaking down and unraveling (I know, there has been a lot of that for a while now). There are parts of ourselves that we cannot take on this next journey.
The potential for big change is embedded in the shifting of Saturn into Pisces on March 7th and Pluto into Aquarius on March 23rd. To give you an idea of the gravity of these shifts : Saturn has not been in Pisces since 1993-1996 and Pluto hasn’t been in Aquarius since 1777-1797. We’ve been feeling the movement towards these hefty upcoming events for sometime (many months). Along the way there has been a lot of slogging through the muck, maybe feeling a bit lost, defeated, unsure, frustrated.
But the entire time we may have had an underlying sense of assurance that change is somewhere on the horizon. We can feel it in our bones, in our innate resonance with the gods of time.
The Last (Anoretic) Degree :
At the beginning of March we have both Saturn and Pluto at their last, anoretic degree of their respective sign (Saturn in Aquarius and Pluto in Capricorn). This is a potent placement for a planet - especially slower moving planets with the powerful potentials of Saturn and Pluto. The similarities between Saturn and Pluto include their demand for absolute “truth”, no fluff, no bull sh*t. As well as power, sustainability, perseverance and endings.
We enter this month with a lot of density, seriousness and maybe even heaviness. If you’re experiencing any of this, hold on… it will pass. Also, if you can, dig in. The potential richness at this moment is immense. The cosmos is encouraging us to be committed to and proudly stand within our true nature.
Flimsy, false pretenses will not fly as we move forward. They never have, this is a great time to remove another layer of your “imaginary” self. Remember that when you release something, you are just making room for something else to grow.
Neptune :
Mars Square Neptune has provided another tactic of the cosmic forces to dissolve the “false self”. Since September 2022 this square has been waxing and waning, due to Mars’ loooong stay and retrograde in Gemini. This transit is responsible for a lot of the slogging that we have encountered over the past couple of months. Every step forward feeling like a muddy slide in another direction. Our whole-hearted motivation to create a promising future often being sucked into slow-motion mode. Frustration-Station.
Neptune is slippery, under the radar - yet it is the radar. Often when we feel lost, unable to adequately assert ourselves, feeling like we’ve been demobilized, it’s possible that Neptune has something to do with it. Why Neptune, why? Whenever we escape we are encountering Neptune : tv, social media, excessive work, alcohol and drugs. As well as books, vacations, hikes, learning, etc. anything that “takes you away” is Neptune. Neptune is the slippery slope of pleasure - it’s shadow is excess and dependency. It’s balance is the “real world” and boundaries (Saturn).
In Mid-March we will encounter a lot of Neptune transits, including Mars’ last square to Neptune from Gemini. The frustration of not being able to move forward is likely increasing our desire to escape into the Neptunian realm. Remember, Neptune is cleansing our hubris, melting our ego, dissolving layers of pretense. Surrender. Be present with the escapism that you partake in, chose the healthy and productive escape mechanisms when you can.
Often times the impacts of the outer world occur because we are being offered an opportunity to change. What keeps showing up for you? Is there a boundary, a “no”, that you need to establish? Or is there a “yes” that you’ve been hesitant to let in? Sometimes the two work hand-in-hand.
I suspect that a lot of the Neptune activity this month will be subtly exposing these opportunities. When you find yourself feeling frustrated and defeated, be curious, be inquisitive, there could be another perspective trying to get your attention.
Action :
Between March 18th-21st, as the Sun and Mercury enter fiery Aries and the powerful Aries New Moon perfects, the fog will lift and the path forward should become more navigable. Soon following (March 23rd), Pluto will make its first entrance into Aquarius (an ingress that will slowly roll in and out until December 2024).
On March 25th Mars will enter Cancer (ending its sign-based square to Neptune) and immediately form an unsure aspect to Pluto (Inconjunct). Although the entrance to the path is a bit more clearly delineated at this point, there is insecurity around how to make the initial steps. If it’s not clear to you, take a breath, new beginnings aren’t usually easy. And that’s ok. Be patient.
March ends with a productive trine between Mars and Saturn and a fun, creative conjunction of Venus and Uranus in Taurus (both on March 30th). Whatever blurry sloshing you have weathered, especially mid-month you should reach some level of forward-moving action and productivity at the end of the month. You should begin to find that the work that you put in begins to manifest actual payoffs. You may also find that there is a plot twist to the journey that you are embarking upon, hopefully a joyful one.
While the ingresses of Saturn and Pluto take place in March, the real action likely won’t be more fully evident until April and May. But could catch some first glimpses of the journey coming into manifestation.
Closing :
I hope that the month of March offers you space for healing and finding deeper compassion for yourself and others. If the intensity and frustration becomes a lot, remember that it is temporary. Astrology reminds us that everything is a phase, a cycle, there is a time of intensity followed by a time of less intensity, we ebb and we flow. We need all of it. The variation is what makes life rich, interesting and worth it.
So much love,
Lisa
