September 2024 : One Step at a Time
Hello everyone! Thank you for taking the time to read and / or listen to this newsletter. It means a lot to me that you trust me to translate the astrology of this time.

Opening
September 2024 ushers in a wave of turning points and opportunities, as well as a glimpse of the great changes that we stand on the precipice of. This month, we may gain a clearer perspective of the challenges that lie ahead of us as we make our way towards our far-reaching goals. We can all sense that the stability that we depend upon is tenuous at best. This tenuousness always exists, but as we move deeper into the great change that we are currently wading within, the fragility is ever more present.
Pluto into Capricorn
On September 1st, Pluto Retrogrades into Capricorn for the last time until 2254. Plutos journey through Capricorn began in January 2008. Look at your chart to see what house(s) Pluto has traversed through and what planets Pluto has interacted with during this time. For myself, Pluto in Capricorn triggered the beginning of my family (Pluto Conjunct my Moon), the empowerment of my career (and myself personally) in many different ways (Pluto Conjunct IC and Square Ascendent), as well as moving into a beautiful home (Pluto in my 4th House).
On November 19 2024 Pluto will enter Aquarius and stay there until 2043 - when it will begin ints ingress into Pisces. We are in the midst of a significant 20 year adjustment. Pluto in Aquarius will likely usher in technological breakthroughs beyond our wildest imagination, a revised social structure, and an overall understanding that we are all globally connected.
These next couple of months with Pluto in Capricorn represents a time for us to digest the last bits of wisdom from the past 16 years. Governmental structures and the general infrastructure of our lives will undergo last minute overhauls. Financial adjustments that include tangible resources and cold-hard cash could take place as Pluto makes its final hand-off into the digital realm of Aquarius. Capricorn also represents the past, history, our ancestors, the shoulders that we stand upon. Great adjustments and shifts have taken place within our reverence towards the past, in Aquarius there could be more of a focus towards the future.
Most often, astrology is best understood in hindsight. This could be a time where we reflect upon the recent past and gain appreciation for the growth and understanding that we have obtained.
Uranus Stations Retrograde
Uranus Stationing Retrograde on September 1st (at 27° Taurus 15’) will shake up themes that arise at the beginning of September. The Stationing of an outer planet, such as Uranus is palpable to the Universal experience. At this time, there will be a nervous and very active undertone to our lives. We could be involved in many activities at one time, feeling as though the other ball could drop at any moment. This destabilized vibe will likely kick in at late August, and will be at its height this first couple of days of September.
Expect to feel frazzled and overwhelmed with all of the activity occurring at this time, likely due to the unreliability of the events unfolding. Be sure to take good care of your nervous system. Of all of the outer planet stations, Uranus tends to be the most noticeable in our day-to-day lives. We could feel like our water was spiked with caffeine - and not in the best way. Have compassion for others who could be going through trying times and may not have the support to handle the stress in a healthier way.
Uranus will be Retrograde until January 30th 2025 and will reach 23° Taurus. Notably, this will be the last Retrograde Cycle where Uranus is fully within the sign of Taurus. The next time that Uranus Stations Retrograde - on September 5 2025 - Uranus will be at 01° Gemini. Uranus makes its initial entrance into Gemini on July 7 2025. This transition is part of the precipice that we stand upon at this time. We are on the verge of so much change - much of which we will see unfold in 2025. But we are setting the stage for these changes right now.
Mars Square Neptune
On September 2nd 2024, Mars Squares Neptune (29° 00’). Similar to the two previous transits that have been mentioned, this transit also highlights the eventual movement of an outer planet into the next sign. We have had a lot of activity regarding several other outer planets on the verge of stepping into a new zodiacal sign placement. At this time all three outer planets (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) are either at or nearby their anoretic degree - suggesting great upheaval and a chaotic undertone is largely at hand at this time and into the next 6 - 12 months.
In this instance, Mars is highlighting this final degree of Neptune in Pisces. On its own, Mars Square Neptune illustrates a time with potential mistakes, trauma, and / or disrespected boundaries. As well as a drive towards spiritual enlightenment and creative forces. At the time of this transit, Mars is Conjunct the Fixed Star Betelgeuse, signaling the potential for calamities, danger, and violence. Most likely, we could see a distinct and dramatic division of people based on their belief systems. And, this division could be based on false or misleading ideas / ideals.
Virgo New Moon
The Virgo New Moon also takes place on September 2nd 2024 at 11° Virgo 04’. From a simple astrological lens, the Virgo New Moon is a bit crunchy in that it stands in Opposition to Saturn in Pisces. It is an applying Opposition, so the feelings and experiences of restriction will be elongated into the following week or so. We could be presented with substantial setbacks and hinderances at this time. This could be a check-point where we are required to do our due diligence.
In addition, the Mars Square Neptune is strongly tied into this Lunation. Hence, the topics of irritability, weakness and the potential for harm to others is strongly highlighted at this time and for the remainder of the month - since the New Moon is a predictive tool for the month ahead. All in all, this is a time when we could feel exhausted and at a bit of a stand-still due to a misuse or overextension of energy. We could experience a failure of the overall system(s) at hand.
In addition, Mercury is forming an applying Square to Stationing Uranus (which perfects on September 6th). There is so much irritability coming through at this time. As you know, when people are overstimulated, overwhelmed and unable to take firm action in their world, there is the potential for reactionary communication. Peoples tongues look to be out of the grasp of their higher self at this time. Feelings are high and the outcomes are likely not satisfactory to anyone’s standards or expectations.

Mars into Cancer
The ingress of the faster moving planets into a new sign is sometimes noteworthy. In this instance, Mars’ ingress into Cancer on September 4 2024 is quite important, because Mars will be in Cancer (and the beginning of Leo) until April 17 2025 due to Mars’ upcoming Retrograde Cycle. Mars will Station Retrograde on December 6 2024 at 06° Leo 10’ and will then Station Direct at 17° Cancer 00’ on February 23 2025. We will certainly be going further into Mars’ Retrograde as it becomes closer.
It should be noted that in the months ahead we will have a much slower and more potent Mars than usual - as Mars slows down to Station. This will become more prevalent in November 2024, at the time of the 2024 US Presidential Election.
Take a look at what planets and / or angles you have between 17° Cancer 00’ and 06° Leo 10’ to see how intimately this Mars Retrograde will effect your life for the next 6-ish months.
Pisces Partial Lunar Eclipse
On September 17th 2024 we have our first Eclipse on the Pisces-Virgo axis since early 2017 (when the South Node was in Pisces and the North Node was in Virgo). This is a hybrid Eclipse, where the Nodes are in one set of signs (Aries and Libra) and the Sun and Moon are in another set of signs (Pisces and Virgo).
The Eclipse is situated at 25° 40’ - Sun in Virgo and Moon in Pisces. What is most notable about this Eclipse is its close proximity to Neptune (at 28° Pisces 35’). The Neptunian theme this month is strong, Neptune’s influences will be undeniable. Top of mind, I think of exhaustion and overwhelm being something that many will be dealing with, as has been the case for much of this month. Eclipse Season on its own tends to drain people, but with Neptune so intimately involved take extra special care of yourself.
In addition, we could be blindsided by the events of this time, the unimaginable becoming manifest, or lies being woven into the fabric of our lives. On a more positive note, there could be deep-felt moments of compassion and spiritual insight. Creative realms could flourish, so take advantage of this energy, particularly if you are a creative type. Broadly, we are being immersed into the nebulous realm, a time when boundaries are less established than normal.
I highly recommend that you plan for down time / days off during this Eclipse Season - from approximately September 10 until October 9th 2024. Neptune is adamant about us being in touch with the subtle parts of life. If we don’t slow down to appreciate the subtle nature of our lives, then Neptune can take us down through sickness or depression. This is why I urge you to be proactive and schedule time to relax and surrender a bit.
Mercury
At the end of the month, Mercury spotlights the activity via a Trine to Uranus on September 24th, and on September 25th both an Opposition to Neptune and a Trine to Pluto. The importance of these transits brings us back to the beginning of this newsletter. Mercury will be interacting with the outer planets as they reach the final degrees of their respective sign. Looking at what each of the outer planets have to say regarding their last hurrah in their respective sign.
Mercury’s correspondence from Virgo to Pluto in Capricorn and to Neptune in Pisces in particular are at its bitter end. We could see stories emerge that are telling communicating the journey of these outer planet placements. We could see an end to an era coming to an end.
More personally, this is also a time when communication and information could be heightened. We could be inundated with ideas and a need to take action on those ideas in a very profound way. The world at large, as well as individuals in general, have something important to say. This could be a reflection of the election process coming closer and the impact that the constant stream of chatter and banter can have on us personally.
On September 30th 2024 Mercury perfects its Conjunction to the Sun, indicating a time of clarity and forward thinking. There looks to be powerful ideas and even connections circulating though the news and in our personal lives at this time. Remember that this Mercurial whirlwind is taking place in the middle of Eclipse Season. Hence, there could be more gravity and more impact from the information and the news that is emerging.
Eclipse Season is a time of great beginnings and great endings. It is notable that the conflict between Israel and Hamas catapulted during this same Eclipse Season in 2023. We could see further development within the relations between these two governments around this time. As well as substantial developments around the 2024 US Presidential Election.
Closing
All in all, September promises to continue the larger process of substantial change that we are currently in the middle of. Not only is the United States in the midst of great change, but the world is as well. The US is in the midst of its Pluto Return (as it has been for several years) and as that completes, the US Uranus Return will kick into high gear. What this means, is that the United States is being forced to clear out many of the skeletons in its closet, sometimes by living out those skeletons in an often uncomfortable and messy way. And I suspect that the next step will be some form of revolution or immense shake-up, be that through substantial reform and / or turbulent uprising of some kind.
We are in the midst of bringing out the muck, and on the brink of a revolutionary transition. Because one is coming after the other, I suspect that the outcome will be central to the story of the United States. We are currently IN the story, so it is nearly impossible to really see the trajectory.
As always, remember to take good care of yourselves. One step at a time. Each of us has a responsibility, in our own significant way, to nurture and feed our light in order to contribute to a positive outcome for our children’s future - and for the future of human kind. No pressure.
