What a crazy holiday season! We apparently ordered the chaos Holiday special this year… we got a new puppy (Fabulous Frankie Sparkles, aka Frankie) and were a part of a 5-day controlled power outage in the mountains outside of Denver for high winds and extreme fire danger (we really need more snow!!!). Then… of course the responsibility of being Santa and planning all of the Holiday Celebrations.
But the puppy cuddles are ridiculously delicious and in the end we were able to wrangle together a pretty wonderful Holiday experience. After which I had several nights of coma-like sleeping to recover!
I hope that each of you enjoyed the Holidays, your loved ones and the memories that were created in your shared time together.
As promised, Sara and I released our 2026 Year Ahead episode - on Broadcast Astrology : Insight for Humans. We decided to do a more free-range discussion of the astrological weather for the year ahead. It is not astrologically heavy, it is more sentimental and reflective. Also anticipatory of the fast and furious year ahead (YouTube, Spotify and Other Channels). I hope that you enjoy it! Opening
As I suspected, December brought substantial levels of heaviness, loss and consequence. Our grasp on reality has been loosened, leaving many feeling disoriented and untethered from that which we have depended upon. We may find ourselves leaning into spirituality or escapism in new ways, or could just be completely overwhelmed and exhausted. I hope that you have found some time to relax and recover this past month.
While January doesn’t look to be jolting us into the quantum leap that 2026 will eventually land us in, there are moments of great consequence and substantial power-struggles. As well as a sense of renewal and rebirth.
We are invited to look past the facade of our social structures and our interior spaces, and sit with the shadows, the pain and the struggle inherent in all of life. And be okay with and even find the beauty within the shadows, even the pain.
January offers us a time of deepened contemplation, a moment to really peel away the layers of life so that we can show up more authentically and make an impact on the world (even if that world reach is vey small).
New smaller cycles are being initiated in January, allowing for new visions and renewed vows to the magic within us.
Cancer Full Moon
The Cancer Full Moon takes place on January 3rd, 2026 at 5:02am Eastern Standard Time. And is situated at 13° Cancer 01’ (with the Moon in Cancer and the Sun in Capricorn). Most notably, the Sun is surrounded by Venus and Mars on either side. Illuminating the nearly simultaneous Conjunctions that both of these planets will perfect in the coming days with the Sun and with one another.
It is very rare for Venus (on January 6th) and Mars (on January 9th) to simultaneously conjoin the Sun - a moment that ushers in a new 1-year cycle for Venus and a 2-year cycle for Mars. Similarly, Venus and Mars meet up every 2-years. Most commonly, Venus and Mars together indicate physical union, passion, love. As well as the power of creation. This powerful Conjunction occurring with the Sun and close to a Full Moon, encourages us to balance the masculine and feminine energies within us.
Venus represents the finer things in life, the part of our life that can inspire us to fight and defend against perceived threats (the Mars function). If it weren’t for the people and things in our life that we love (Venus), then we would not be drawn to disputes and even to war (Mars). These two fundamental human experiences exist in relation to one another. And are central to the procreation of human life of all shapes and forms.
What can you conceive of at this time? Allow the fertility of this week or two inspire you towards either a new or refreshed goal.
The Cancer Full Moon, and the week following it, could be inspiring for new creative endeavors. The Full Moon is also aligned with Uranus, inviting new personal expression and innovation. And the Moon is widely Conjunct Jupiter, inviting fertile germination and success in what you put your mind to.
In a month that will soon feel intense and possibly overwhelming, take advantage of this first week and a half to reinvent yourself and enjoy the finer things in life. Yes, the New Year often propagates this kind of action, but the Cancer New Moon actually provides the energetic push that you may need.
Jupiter RX in Cancer
As the faster moving planets make their way through the sign of Capricorn in January, they will be applying to Oppositions to Jupiter RX in Cancer. This will occur from January 9th through January 14th. First Venus, then the Sun, Mars and then Mercury will Oppose an enlightened and hopeful Jupiter in the sign of its Exaltation.
All of this will be occurring on the heels of the Suns’ Conjunction with both Venus and Mars - as mentioned above. All of the personal planets (Sun, Mercury, and Venus) have regular annual Conjunctions and Oppositions with Jupiter. However, Mars moves a bit slower and therefore could make the largest impact of them all, Opposing Jupiter every 2-ish years. Mars is the outlier to this group of planets.
Mars-Jupiter has a rebellious side to it, Jupiter ramping up Mars’ desire to separate and individuate. Hasty or premature action is possible at this time, as well as heightened conflicts.
On the positive side, this is a great time to get things done. Similar to the Venus-Mars combination, Mars-Jupiter has a creative and active element to it. Driven to create bounty and opportunity.
Look at your chart and see if you have any planets or points at or around 20° Cardinal (Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn). If you do, then you will likely feel the boost of this time most prominently.
Capricorn New Moon
The Capricorn New Moon takes place on January 18th, 2026 at 2:51pm Eastern Standard Time. Situated at 28° Capricorn 43’, the New Moon remains flanked by Venus and Mars, and Mercury has also joined the party.
On the same day, Mercury and Mars will Conjoin at 26° Capricorn 03’, indicating a day of arguments, sharp words and uncontrolled narratives. With Venus simultaneously Conjoining Pluto (on January 19th) at 03° Aquarius 19’, the niceties that we may have been working on in the beginning of the month could have flown out of the window. There is the sense that we were trying to hold it together but composure just isn’t possible any longer. This could materialize both on the world stage and in our personal lives.
Although out of sign, the New Moon is closely Conjunct with Pluto. Rooting us in the mystery of the unseen as well as the potential coercion of those who hold the power-at-hand. With Pluto having such a strong influence in this New Moon, it could feel inevitable and even easier to believe that the politicians and those who supposedly hold the reigns of society should hold the power, and we could be duped into thinking that we the people do not hold it.
However, I urge you to remember that the power that you do hold - although it can feel insignificant at times - is much greater than we are lead to believe. Each time we relinquish our own power to those “in charge” we give them even more power.
While money and political representation are quite meaningful in this human existence, the men behind the curtain are still only men (and women) at the end of the day. They suffer like us all the same. And Pluto in Aquarius is reminding us of the inevitable leveling-field of humanity - we all need love, nutrition, shelter, and reassurance that our death will meet us with grace. Humanity is what connects us, it does not divide us.
In addition, the New Moon is in a close Trine with Uranus, (and Mercury and Mars are also closely applying to a Trine to Uranus), revving up the revolutionary spirit that could have been rumbling in the weeks preceding. Calls for liberation and overall excitability could be in the air. We will begin to see the movement towards events that will unfold in the coming months.
Check to see what you have at the late degrees (28°) of Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) as well as early degrees (03°) of Fixed (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius).
Pluto Conjunctions
The month ends with some distinct intensity. Intensity that could be born of the events that occurred in mid-January, surrounding the Capricorn New Moon.
As the faster moving planets make their way into Aquarius, they will immediately Conjoin with Pluto at 03° Aquarius. As noted prior, Venus will make this Conjunction on January 19th, the day after the New Moon. And then Mercury will make its Conjunction on January 22nd, the Sun on January 23rd and Mars on January 27th.
Expect this stretch of time - between January 19th to the 31st - to be tense, combative and demonstrative of extraordinary force and vigor. On the world stage we could witness ruthlessness and even brutality. Power and leadership is highlighted, particularly those who have and do not have it.
If the planets are musical instruments, then the key of Pluto is being played over and over again at this time. And Mars’ interaction with Pluto will be most notable and memorable, inciting excessive effort and unstoppable ambition. The pressure felt when these two planets come together can be a lot. There is no stopping the agenda of Mars and Pluto when they join forces.
Whatever is occurring at this time will be ushering in the topics and themes that will likely prevail in February 2026 - when the astrological activity quickens.
Personally, be careful of unchecked power dynamics at this time. Either step back if you find yourself being overbearing towards others or remove yourself from the equation of you are the subordinate to an overlord personality.
More positively, this is a wonderful time to set goals for yourself. Pluto and Mars meet up every two years, the last time that they Conjoined was February 13th 2024, and the next time will be January 11th 2028. Two-year goals are attainable time frames to accomplish something ambitious and that can grant great success. If you are looking for a time to make a game plan for yourself this is an optimal time to do so.
Again, if you have any placement at or around 03° of Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius) this time will be most potent for you. And most important for you to set some lofty goals for yourself.
Neptune into Aries
On January 26th Neptune will make its decisive ingress into Aries, completing its journey through Pisces. Last month I spoke in depth about Neptune and its transition from 14 years in Pisces (since 2011) into Aries for another 14 years (until 2038). This is a gigantic shift for humanity.
Neptune in Aries is an embodied spirituality. As well as a dream emerging from the seed, with the audacity to push its way into the sunlight.
There is extreme excitement as well as jittery nervousness of the unknown. Anxiety can run high because we stand upon a great void, a void that holds the new stories yet to be written … by each of us!
If you are feeling the uneasiness of the unknown at this time, then you are exactly where you need to be. You have arrived at precisely the correct place. Welcome!
What is the dream-seed within you that is ready to germinate and grow into something completely new?
Closing
Take advantage of the beginning of January to orient yourself and allow yourself to be playful with new ideas! 2026 is all about taking chances and maybe even being a bit absurd along the way.
The middle and end of the month will throw some distinct curve balls - requiring us to either hold our own or bow out all together if that serves us best. As pressures and power-struggles build around us, maintain level of curiosity and separation surrounding the world-drama. It is our own convictions that will ultimately carry us forward.
Finally, make a two-year plan at the end of the year. Be bold and maybe a bit “out there”. Take accessible and fun steps every day towards making this goal manifest in the coming years. The key to manifestation is ease and enjoyment in the process.
